Make 10

Back in my youth ( 1 million years ago ) I was struggling in school with horrible grades, and my math teacher told me something I would never forget:

“If you don’t get it, you just don’t get it”

so I concluded I was not smart, because I didn’t get it.

Years later I played a mobile game called “10 Plus”. It was a cutesy anime styled mobile game where the aim was to make the numbers in a row or column add up to 10 exactly. I spent many hours engaged in trying to make as many lines of 10 as I could in a row. Through repeated play I noticed something - my mind was getting sharper, and I was “getting it” through this simple game that gamified math. I have tried, in vain, to find the game again and have had the idea in my mind that if I couldn’t find it again I’d bring it back to this realm myself.

I spent 2025 working on Definitely Not Good (an improv comedy podcast). Midway through the year I decided to lock in and pivot to finally focusing on a game idea I’ve had on the back burner for a bit, Terminus: Hero’s of Fate, rogue-like deck builder, more info on that in a different post. Things are moving along but definitely taking way longer and more resources than I initially intended, that’s game dev for ya.

Feeling a bit disappointed by the amount of showable progress I’ve made on that game at the end of 2025 and desperate for a lil dopamine hit, I joined Brainless’ Mini-Game Jam. One week to make a small game? Surely I could do that, and I had just the game that would be perfect for this scenario, a reincarnation of 10 Plus. I’m happy to say that the reincarnation is complete, and you can now play my game, Make 10, on a web browser! Even on your phone! Somehow even though it’s done, I find myself struggling to fully wind down/off from it. Making is a struggle.

Anyway please enjoy Make 10 and let me know what you think. I did the art and music myself, no AI here (except for the code, thanks Claude)!
